I’m a Physics professor at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a lifetime science fiction fan. I just wrote a book called Wizards, Aliens and Starships: Physics and Math in Fantasy and Science Fiction . I like playing the science fiction game: looking at the science in works of science fiction, and trying to decide if they’re reasonable or not. This blog will feature some things which didn’t make it into the book, or look deeper into things that did. There will be math here, mostly arithmetic, but some algebra as well.
